Overview
Many organizations may have a DR plan, but do not have the resources necessary to implement their needs in a location that is physically separate.
They may have a separate physical building but are encumbered with the capital costs of operating, maintaining, and upgrading a secondary physical datacenter.
We have the expertise needed to provide your organization with a geographically distinct DR solution utilizing cloud technology. Utilizing our experience, your organization can be more resilient to disaster or malicious action, and better positioned to take advantage of the economic advantages of the cloud.
Value
- Continue Caring for patients during a ransomware attack
- Increased security posture with an immutable and air gapped version of your production Epic database
- Reduce risk and potentially reduce cybersecurity insurance premiums
- Improve recovery point objective by leveraging read only environment for recovery
Approach
Discover & Plan (Week 1)
- Establishing cadence, team access, and functional workgroups
- Technical discovery, collection of system information required for detailed work
Design & Prepare (Week 2-6)
- Design of Epic and Cloud architecture
- Deployment of cloud architecture
- Deployment of Epic Architecture in cloud
Execution (Week 7)

Value
Availability
Cloud providers have multiple regions across the globe and data center redundancy within each region. Cloud infrastructure is highly available, helping healthcare organizations ensure business continuity.
Compliance and security
Cloud providers can help healthcare organizations facilitate compliance with healthcare- specific regulations, including HIPAA and HITECH.
Flexibility
Many AWS services offer flexible pricing structures in which users only pay for the services and usage that they need, resulting in potential significant cost savings.
Approach
Discover And Plan
Early on our focus in on kicking off the project the right way. We want to understand your system, the business requirements that ultimately drive your DR solution, get to know your team, and establish a project cadence.
Design And Prepare
After learning everything we need to know about your system during the Discover and Plan hase, we put pen to paper and begin creating a solution design for you. Our designs consider all the areas that matter for true business resiliency: Cache, Citrix, Client Systems, GSLB, external interfaces, operational readiness and even the communication strategy. Then we get to work implementing it all.
Execute
At this point we will have implemented our design, the only two things left are lots of testing and then your production DR activation. Before the night of your production DR activation we will make sure any deficiencies found while testing are addressed.
Evaluate
After every project we take time to evaluate the results, document successes, failures and lessons learned. From these we extract any action plans to address existing deficiencies. Finally, we begin the process of transitioning knowledge and make sure your team is ready to be a leader in business continuity for your organization.
Overview
Every healthcare technology leader is being pressured to develop or implement a cloud strategy.
The EHR, being the most critical IT system operated by a healthcare organization, needs to be central to that strategy. And a full production migration to the cloud is the holy grail, seen as unattainable to most. Sapphire health can provide you a fixed price, committed deliverable and timelines approach to migrating your Epic production environment to the cloud. A project that we have done before – a designation that can only be said for a small handful of firms.

Performance
The cloud offers powerful compute performance that is capable of handling large Epic workloads. Never refresh your hardware again and always be on the latest chipset.
Compliance and security
Cloud providers can help healthcare organizations facilitate compliance with healthcare- specific regulations, including HIPAA and HITECH.
Flexibility

Approach
Sapphire will conduct a 52-week project following the below phases
- Discover & Plan Phase
The discover and plan phase of the project will be used to establish the project cadence, establish functional workgroups to gather system information required to create the low – level work plans. This includes data collection for required system changes and identifying key tasks. - Design & Prepare Phase
The design and prepare phase will allow Sapphire Health and the customer to work on implementing system changes and comprehensive design and deployment of the cloud infrastructure needed to prepare the system for Epic production infrastructure. We will identify key risks and establish risk mitigation plans. Collaborate on a communication strategy and prepare a Production Activation outline. This phase requires additional time to be built in to allow changes to be coordinated with third party vendors that require interface and modality changes. - Execution Phase
The Execution phase involves two test runs, the first with no end user load or impact in non-production environment, and the second with full end user load.
The Production Activation as defined in solution design will be scheduled and carried out during this phase - Evaluation Phase
The Evaluate and analyze project outcome, including lessons learned and follow up caution plan for issues requiring remediation.
